Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I feed my horses seeds?

A:  In the wild, horses graze on grasses that are naturally high in Omega 3 fats which naturally reduce the inflammatory process in the body.  Once grass is cured and dried into hay, almost all of the Omega 3 fats are lost.  Our seed mix has over 4 grams of Omega 3 fats per serving, resulting in a completely natural way to add them back into your horse's diet.

Q: Can my horse digest the whole seeds?

A: YES!  While we recommend soaking the seeds in water to soften the outside shell of the seeds or the use of a coffee grinder for a fresh ground seed mix for older horses or those with dental issues, most horses have no problem chewing and digesting the seeds right out of the bag.  We do not use ground flax as grinding the seeds causes them to go rancid and lose most of their Omega 3 fats, unless they are used immediately after grinding.

Q: Is there a scoop included in the bag?

A:  Yes!  There is a 1 ounce scoop included in each bag of Seeds Please Equine Supplement, and a 1 teaspoon scoop included with the Seeds Please Canine Supplement.  For both products there are feeding instructions on label.  Please feel free to e-mail us or call if you have any questions about feeding our products.

Q:  What is so special about the Itch Me Not formula ?

A:  Our "Itch Me Not" product starts with the same base ingredients as our regular Seeds Please! supplement.  We then add several herbs along with MSM to help support proper immune function and skin health.  Many of the problems we have seen with our horses, such as rain rot and summer sores, have responded well to our proprietary mix of ingredients.

Q: How long does it take to see results?

A: Each horse's situation is unique.  We know of horses showing improvement in as little as one week, but most horses begin to show improvement after two to four weeks of daily use.  A single bag of Seeds Please! lasts for 35 days, so you should definitely be seeing results by the end of the first bag.

Q:  Are your ingredients "Human Food Grade"?

A:  YES!  The only ingredient in our mix that is not is the Black Oil Sunflower Seeds.  These seeds are only produced for animal feeds, and are the type of sunflower seed that is safe for horses to eat.  Striped Sunflower Seeds are produced for human consumption, but the outer hull is very tough and it is not safe for your horses to eat.

Q:  How should I store the seeds?

A:  Seeds Please! does not need to be refrigerated, but should be used within 60 days of opening.  We do not use any preservatives in order to keep the seeds as natural as possible.  They have a 1 year shelf life when stored at room temperature unopened in the sealed bag.
